Questions
.Can I be made to feel or do something I don't want?

Your conscience, moral sense, will prevent you from doing anything which it opposes. It is, so far as is known, not possible to install a negative emotion. Stage hypnosis utilises people whom the hypnotist knows will be adventurous. The subjects' sense of fun will allow them to engage in some bizarre behaviours but, only if their conscience allows. So called brain-washing requires prolonged exclusive subjection to a process which takes days or longer to achieve. You will tell me what you want and that is what you will get.

(If you want to make like a chicken whenever you see a spider I could help you do that but most people are just happy not to have the phobia any more!)

Can I be cured of any problem?

There is little evidence for the curing of psychoses using talking therapies. (Having said that I have assisted a boy who heard voices and another who had visual hallucinations to banish these forever by using EFT.) I would not knowingly undertake to work with psychotic persons. (I only became aware of the two examples' psychoses, above, after starting work.) Most emotional problems can be reduced or eliminated with the commitment of the subject and their willingness to change. Physical symptoms frequently vanish with successful psychological resolution. I make no claim to be able to cure physical problems but have witnessed health improving following psychological resolution. Unresolved anger often leads to heart problems and unresolved fear (anxiety/stress) causes stomach ulcers. Unresolved internal conflicts can cause cancerous growth. The resolution of these emotional problems can lead to beneficial changes in the physiology. Each junction between nerves is bathed in neuro-transmitters which occupy most of out body space. It used to be believed that neuro-transmitters only existed in the brain and at nerve junctions. That means our body has memories as well as our brain. That is why we feel fear in our guts or have gut-reactions. This mind body connection is important to understand when considering the health of the whole person and the steps needed to achieve that. Psychosomatic does not mean we intend to have the illness. It just means there is a mind/body connection.

If I come with a problem and it is resolved with treatment, can it come back ?

Problems, like, for example, anger may have many causes. You may release anger which comes from one cause and feel relieved, only to have anger return again in another context. The new anger may need further work and that can be resolved. Imagine each emotional problem is like an onion, with a core cause. The core cause is usually an unresolved drama before age 5 and all similar events which follow are the layers of skin which conceal the core. You may have a sack of angry onions, a bag of scared ones and a handful of sad ones. Conventional therapy involves peeling each onion and working on the core by re-experiencing the drama and feelings. I don't peel onions - that makes us cry! We clear the core as soon as we find the onion but, having said that, other onions may roll out when there is space for them to do so. Each only needs a little work to clear the core. Sometimes the problem is exacerbated by the environment in which you exist and, under this circumstance you may have to change that. For example if you are in a relationship where you are abused and feel depressed you can cure the depression but it will return unless you change the relationship.

Do you work with addictions ?

Yes, and I require a commitment from the client to follow my advice following and between the treatments.

What is the difference between what you do and counselling ?

Counselling is usually a long term process where issues come up and are talked through. This can work and empower you. I work in a solution focussed way. Whilst I use counselling skills, I access your concerns, and aim to get you where you want to be in a short time, by contacting the problem and resolving it through the release of the negative emotions and decisions which cause it. We work until you get what you want and empowerment is the result.

Why should I come to you ?

Our first meeting is a free assessment during which you and I can decide if we want to work together. It is also an opportunity for me to learn if I can do what you want or refer you to another agency. It is for this reason that I can guarantee a positive outcome to our work.
I use counselling skills and a unique combination of therapeutic techniques to release unwanted feelings and change limiting decisions. *I use brief, solution focussed techniques to obtain the results you want, quickly. *This saves you the expense of long term therapy.
